if anyone has any leads on my great-great-grandfather, Martin Pendley, listed below.

Me: Brian Michael Pendley, b. 1957
My father: Erwin Turner Pendley, b. 1922
His father: Egbert Charles Pendley, 1884-1941
His father: DeWitt Pendley, 1844-1888
His father: Martin Pendley, 1803-1864, in 1825 married Lilius, 1803-1882

Martin and Lilius are buried in Pawling Rural Cemetery, Dutchess County, New York. My dad and I still reside locally. Martin has several other offspring buried in the Pawling plot. I know of no existing traceable family, and I am definitely the only one carrying the Pendley name. The 1820 census shows that there was also a John Pendley in Pawling, but I know nothing about him, or where he might be buried. Maybe it's because I can trace no familial relationships to any other Pendleys, that I have always been in search of where Martin may have come from. My goal is to be able to connect our branch with some other part of the family. I always assumed that Martin migrated from the southern part of the US, but I have found recently that there were some Pendleys in Maine in the early 19th century. Please contact me if anyone has any facts or even theories about where my folks might have come from.

I found this interesting Civil War-related info on Ancestry.com when I was (unsuccessfully) trying to flesh out any potential relations in New England. This is pretty much the way I found the information in Ancestry.com, and in this order. I assume it's all about the same William Pendley:

William Pendley, residence, Danbury, Connecticut. Enlisted 12/4/1861. Served Connecticut, transferred to B Co. 15th CV Reg. CT

William Pendley, residence, Danbury, Connecticut. Enlisted 7/25/1862. Served Connecticut enlisted B Co. 15th Inf. Reg. CT. Discharged on 2/4 1863

William Pendley, residence, Danbury, Connecticut. Enlisted 1/4/1864. L. Co. 1st Cav. Reg. Connecticut. Died as a prisoner at Florence, South Carolina, 10/12/1864

Hi Joe! My name is Trudi Pendley, and I'm probably the worst case of stuck you've ever seen.

I was born in Teaneck New Jersey, and raised in Paramus NJ. My father's name was Donald Lee Pendley.  He married my mother, Loretta Purcell on April 15, 1950.   After a short but messy marriage, he split in 1956. Divorce came shortly afterward,  my grandparents, and mother passed away before I was wise enough to ask the right questions.  As yourself, I come from a small family, and now it's just myself and my brother,  Don.

My mother did tell me that my father was from the Chicago area. I don't know my paternal grandparents names, nor if they were from the Chicago area.  My father was a marine at one time stationed at Camp Pendelton in California.   I do have a Social Security number, and he doesn't show up on the SSDI.

Have you come across any information on a Donald who would be in the age bracket of 74 years in your journey across genealogy land?

Any help would be appreciated.

You've got a great site. Brian Pendley from New York put me onto it.
Thanks,
Trudi
