"Pendley and Allied Families" by T E Pendley as Bennett Alfred Pendley, the father of William Pendley and also Reuben, Bennett, Jesse, Thomas, and Lee Ann. He provides death date as about 1827 and death location as near Cherokee Co, NC. . He also indicates that he was an invalid for about 10 years prior to death. Note: could this be a result of war of 1812? Source seems to be family tradition. He also states that widow and children moved to Jackson Co, GA, after his death. Another tradition says the wife died in Alabama
T E Pendley lists name as Bennet Alfred Pendley then makes assumption that Bennet Alfred Pendley is the same individual as Benjamin Penley of Wilkes co, NC using the argument that not only does Benjamin have the correct first initial but also that Benjamin is the only Penley in Wilkes co, NC 1820 census that has a son to fit the age of William. However, the family of Benjamin in 1810 and 1820 does not meet the pattern of William's Bennet Alfred. T E also made the verbal statement to me that all information prior to William was developed by a paid genealogist. When he tried to get details of the sources of her information, he found that she had left the state and he was never able to contact her again.
