Between 1815 and 1850 a large number of Pendleys left North Carolina and moved into Georgia, in part in response to land bounties provided by the federal government. We still do not know how they are fully attached to each other or the the earlier families in North Carolina. We have used numerous census and other documents to try to piece together these families to the best of our ability. When we hit a blank wall, we have attached them to a dummy family with (blank) Pendley as the father. As more information becomes available, they will be removed from the dummy family and attached to their real ancestors. The notes on each individual shows the source of all information that we have been able to obtain so far, and hopefully the context in which it is found. Key individuals involved in the research and organizing of these families include Anne Pendley, Harold Sammy Pendley and the late Thomas E Pendley. There have been many others also and each deserves to be named, but these have probably helped me the most.
