CENTERVILLE — Services for Sandra F. Powell Pendley, 65, of Leona are set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Burial will be in the Leona Cemetery.
Mrs. Pendley died Friday at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Terra Haute, Ind., and lived in Leona eight months. She had lived in Zavala, Texas. She worked as a caregiver with home health care prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Katy Baptist Church in Colmesneil, Texas. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raydene Powell.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Pendley of Zavala; a son, Gary Steinbecker of Centerville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donnia and Robert Hobbs, and Lona Dove, all of Leona; a brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Vanetta Smith of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Obituary as - Mr. Dewey Pierce Pendley Sr., 80, of Calhoun, formerly of Hiram, died on Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 at Gordon Hospital, following several months of declining health. He was born on March 10, 1925, son of the late Charlie and Lula Pendley. He served in the United States Navy and was a World War II veteran. He was co-owner and vice president of Heaton Erecting Company from 1966 until his retirement in 1995. He served as city councilman for the city of Hiram for several years prior to becoming mayor. He served as mayor of Hiram from 1978 until September 2005. He served on the board of directors for Regions Bank and was a member of the Paulding County Chamber of Commerce, Paulding County Building Association, and Paulding County Water Authority. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Louise Pendley; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Joe Stepp of Calhoun; a son, Dewey Pierce Pendley Jr. of Marietta; a grandson, Brent Stepp and his wife April; great-grandchildren, Kelan and Sophie Stepp, all of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, C.J. and Rita Pendley of Powder Springs; a brother-in-law, C.J. Petty of Lithia Springs; a sister-in-law, Geneva Perry of Austell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, with Dr. Tim Walker of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Dr. Ernest Easley of Roswell Street Baptist Church officiating.
