Name as Levi Pendley, born 9 January 1821, a son to Smith and Sally Pendley from Mitchell Papers.. From same source Levi went to work on a farm in Muhlenberg co in 1848. In 1854 he became an apprentice to a blacksmith in Greenville. After marrying Nancy in 1859 he returned to Butler co, that same year and set up his own smithy in Broklyn.
Eldon M Pendley reports that Palice Pendley, now living in Alburquerque, New Mexico & was raised by Palice's grandparents Smith S & Louisa. Palice says he remembers his gradparents talking of Levi freezing to death in a silver camp in northern Colorado about 1888. Appearently he left a trunk in San Francisco but didn't return. A friend in San Francisco wrote David Hall Pendley asking for money to return the trunk to Kentucky, but David Hall was afraid it might be a scam and didn't return the letter
